Must Do Before Summer is Over

Summer is winding down! There are some things that I need to do before it's over. Some are on the SLOF some are just random things to do.

Paddle boating
Pizza Hut Buffet
Bike at the beach
Finish The Time Traveler's Wife
Go fishing one more time
Picnic
Have a little BBQ

On the side note, I'm watching the Real World and one of the guys are like obsessed with zombies. That is seriously funny. He made a zombie video starring himself and only him. He even had a zombie magazine. I was laughing so hard, too funny!

Lastly, say this 3 times fast: SUZIE SHOUTS SUSHI, SUZIE SHOUTS SUSHI, SUZIE SHOUTS SUSHI. Hard yea?

Ferris Wheels= Perfection

Before I head to sleep, I have been thinking about ferris wheels. I know so crazy, but it's like a large round structure of perfection. I'm so fascinated of what it can do, what it can hold, the moments it can create. I am jealous of anyone who has shared a wonderful moment on a ferris wheel. I mean sharing the seat with your family is slightly different than sharing it with someone else. Just not the same.

Going around in a circle, with a slight breeze, sparkling lights, under the stars... can I melt please? So perfect. Especially at the top, you'll feel so tall and nothing can bother you. SHOOT. I think I would go on it by myself if it wasn't weird and awkward (like the movie Never Been Kissed, but she was saved from the embarrassment).

Sigh, my heart skips a beat when I see these.

Santa Monica

So cute, it's only absolutely perfect when unexpectedly planned or spontaneous. I love them.

Semi-relief, Cosmo and Unsuccessful Day

So Thursday I was suppose to get a FREE hair color over at Supercuts. Before you judge, FREE! I just went in for a trim on Tuesday ( I needed something cheap not costing $60). The girl cutting my hair was chit chatting away about hair coloring. I personally thought she kept talking because she wanted me to give her a good tip. Next thing I know it she is asking me what I'm doing on Thursday(work) and what time (8am-2pm). "Perfect!" she said, "How would you like to be a model?" Now I am thinking WTF and for about 5 seconds with a WTF expression on my face she finally explained. I get a free hair color, basically taking her place because she originally was the client, but couldn't make it and wanted me to take her place. GOOD DEAL. OF course I was a bit sketch, but she explained that it was opened to her friends and family and I didn't need to bring anything.

After explaining to people my fortunate FREE hair color, I was scared and excited to get my hair done today. ALthough I failed to ask a certain question, do I get to choose what color to dye my hair? But I got a call with a cancellation (my stylist wasn't feeling well). I thought I would be disappointed, but no! I was happy! It might not even of been a good time to dye my hair. Who knows how it may turn out and I don't need the pressure of the "OMG my hairrrrr!" Things are coming up and I don't want to be looking not-cute for them. :]

Now at work, after 5 long non-eventful hours at the new Law store, Cosmo and Glamour magazines and many pages of The Time's Traveler's Wife, my fellow cashier and I have concluded: Cosmo magazines are almost exactly alike and can make girls think some stupid things. I don't know if I want to get into this. All I want to say us girls (maybe even boys) may only believe the things in Cosmo because it is printed on paper. Seriously, how many "sexy things can you do with your boyfriend"? (I swear that has been the same topic for the past 5 issues)

Today has been very VERY unsuccessful. It consist of me driving around Westminster for hours, where I thought I knew where I was going. I need my GPS back. You know where you think you might be lost, but maybe have some kind of idea where you are? YEA. I was completely lost. I was going down this street for a while thinking I will hit the street that I needed to go on. No luck. Other way? Nope. Wheres the freeway? Man, U-turn. I gave up and didn't accomplish anything. Plus I had no one to share it with (note to self: bring someone when you get lost). I am very surprise I was able to get back home. So complete fail for today.

Lets hope tomorrow will be more eventful.

And I hate to say it, SLOFing has hit a all time low. With only a few weeks left, I need to step it up. I need encouragement people!

Rafting, Nicknames and 5 Bikes

Rafting trip this past weekend was fun. It could be because the house we were staying at was cleaner, bigger and over all better than the house last year.

The best things about this rafting trip: being the oldest (sorority years) I claimed seniority (this included shotgun/window, bed and shower... HOLLAA), rafting, all you can eat sushi that wasn't $20 but $16, good company and karaoke. Yes, karaoke! I was rocking that mic along with the other fellow singers, not very well, but I enjoyed myself. I wasn't intoxicated at first until I got a hold of a bowl of "watermelon vodka". Basically slices watermelon that has been injected with vodka. I didn't taste anything. So intense singing + about 13 slices of watermelons= pass out at 2AM while everyone is up until 6AM.

Just a few unfavorable things about the trip: racist white guy and turning into a different color. Now I don't get mad easily, but this white guy was WAY too racist. I don't want to get into details, but I really want to beat him with a paddle. Anyways. My shoulders are too dark now and one leg is darker than the other.

Something I noticed from this trip is Nicknames. People give each other nicknames because they don't not know your name. It is true and I am one of those people. Its hard when you are with a group of people and half of them you don't know. How do you remember them or try and get their attention when clearly you don't know their names? Give them a nickname! I don't really care if people give me nicknames, actually it is kind of funny. This weekend I was known as Bag Lady (from last year's rafting trip because I held the bag of sandwiches so I wouldn't get thrown in) and Ketchup/Tomato (because someone (aka LILY TRAN) was telling everyone I put ketchup in my sandwich). So I don't even know if they knew my real name, it's OK I didn't know theirs. HHAHAA

Lastly, my biking hobby has now became a family affair (or friend affair, whatever my Friends and roomies are my family). We now became duo bikers to a bicycle gang. There is officially 5 bikes in my garage and wonderful Zahra has a bike rack that can fit 4 bikes. So that means....BIKING AT THE BEACH! I can not wait for that!! yeeeee!! ps. When I say Bike I mean Bicycle not motorcycle for those who may not understand. HAHA

Introduction and today

I've realize it's a bit odd that I've started blogging about a month and a half into summer. So why now? 1. There is still another month and half of summer. 2. I noticed that my summer has been awesome. 3. I am getting kind of tried explaining individually to people about my summer. 4. Other people have blogs and convinced me to get one, such as Alan Enriquez and Albert Chang (which both interesting to read).

If you haven't noticed this blog is mostly about my summer and SLOFing. I KNOW. I am very into this SLOF of mine, that's just the kind of person I am.

From my SLOF, I think I have created hobbies. Hobbies that I might not be very good at, but I do enjoy doing them.

1. Fishing: It is not boring. In fact, it is relaxing. I try to fish whenever I have about almost a car full of people willing to fish and when I have good 5-6 hour gap in my day to catch or not catch fish. Fishing can make you go through a lot of emotions. Overall the best feeling is catching some after trying 2 times with no luck, 3rd time is a charm.

2. Biking: I am not an athletic person, nor do I have the urge to be. But biking is so much fun! The wind in your face and hair is by far my favorite part. I bike almost everyday for about 20 minutes to one hour depending on my mood and if I have company. The only bad thing is I got DARK (mainly my shoulders and forehead).

Anyways, I actually woke up at 9AM today willingly. That is early since I have only been working (long hours) on Thursdays and Fridays around noon, no summer school or large summer responsibilities, so basically I have a 5-day weekend. HOLLA.
Today my family is going to celebrate my mommy's birthday (Happy Birthday MOM!)and YES we are SLOFing! And double yes, I told my parents about my SLOF and they are very into it as well. They want me to complete it and be a part of it. So today we are going on our boat to fish. And I am not talking about those little fishes you saw in my SLOF photo album, I am hoping for big ass fish this time. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.

THE LIST.

So everyone always ask me "what is on your list?" I guess I was hesitant to post it up just in case I didn't complete any of them. But after completing (personally) a good amount I feel more confident in positing it up now.
I know many of you probably have a general idea
of whats on my list, but I do have what I like to call personal or "solo" SLOFs that I would do on my spare time (aka when I am bored and everyone is busy).
So here it is world, copied and pasted from word, my SLOF.

OK, before you judge or analyze. This is MY SLOF and it might not be your "kind" of fun, but it's been a hit for others and me. A lot of the things on my SLOF you probably haven't done since you were young, therefore that equals boring. No, if you do it with good company (maybe other than your parents) it could be a whole different experience. There is also no particular order of preference or favorites, I just typed whatever I wanted to do.

ENJOY. or not hahaha

The meaning of SLOF.

SLOF. Summer List Of Fun. Now many of you have probably heard or seen about this infamous SLOF. I admit I didn't think it would be so popular or catch the interest of others (I am such a trend setter, just kidding haha). I thought it would just be this personal list that will keep me busy this summer since I'm not taking summer school. I wanted this summer to be enjoyable and not only contain intoxication.

Basically, everyone has a "mental" list of things they want to do over the summer. But honestly, did you really bungee jump last summer? Be realistic, you do not have money (unless of course your parents are filthy rich, then lucky you). Now I'm talking about things you can actually do and afford. This list should step outside of your own comfort zone, but at the same time be doable. It should be for pure enjoyment, with no hidden agendas. There isn't really a "goal" in doing the things on your list, the only thing anyone should be aiming for when doing a SLOF is having fun. Don't get me wrong, I love goals and I think everyone should have them. But losing weight is not fun and it is not on my SLOF. Instead, I would consider it a SLOG, Summer List Of Goals (which will be explained in a later blog). Anyways, a SLOF is something that should make you happy. It should be something that you can enjoy with your good friends. A SLOF isn't a composed list to impress people or rub into someones face that their summer sucks. It's a list to get your mind active and not think about the fear of being jobless in the future or maybe that bad grade last quarter, or that jackass and/or bitch who screwed you over. SLOF is here to make you realize that you can always do better in anything that you do and that you will always have these good friends who will always be there. It might sound crazy, but I think it can build confidence help you see that you deserve more than just a slice of cake (haha). What I'm trying to say your list should be things that will make you happy, get off your lazy butt and make you realize that there is more to life than watching TV, drinking, the opposite sex and Facebook (yes I understand I am a victim of these, but I make it up by SLOFing).

So I know I probably sound crazy and that I am thinking too much in to the "idea" of SLOF, but I don't care. I am pretty sure I didn't come to this conclusion until after performing some of my SLOF activities and explaining to others what SLOF is. So when you ask me how my summer is and I answer "it's going good", believe me I am not lying. Summer is good!
